I gave my all for my dear children

Chanticleer, the “world’s reigning male chorus”, recently gave a stirring performance in a setting fit for music so beautiful (see picture below). I was on a date with my daughter and was happy to introduce her to music that has been so impactful in my life. The closing piece was something that left me in tears and still touches my heart today. Some of you may recognize the Emmylou Harris rendition…I tried to find the closest version to what I heard that day (see video below).

The lyrics are touching because of the double meaning behind them. “I gave my all for my dear children…I’d brave life’s storm…to bring them home from anywhere.” Just as I would do anything for my sweet angelic child, God is there for each and every one of us. He waits with excited anticipation for the day when we hear his calling and “come back home some day…”
